What is Honeypot?

A token you can buy but not sell — a scam contract with a hidden sell tax or transfer block that traps your money.

How it works

The contract looks normal until you try to exit, then a huge sell tax or a blacklist eats the sale. Safety scanners simulate a buy-then-sell round trip to measure the real exit cost before you buy in.

Example

In practiceA token passes a casual glance but a round-trip simulation shows a 90% sell tax — effectively unsellable — so the scanner flags it HIGH_RISK.

Can a scanner catch every honeypot?

No — an upgradeable contract can add a tax after you buy. Always test with a tiny sell first on anything unaudited.
